St. Patrick Parish
St. Patrick Parish has contributed much to the Detroit community and its people since its founding in 1859. Today St. Patrick is in a time of transition and challenge. Over the past five years, St. Patrick parishioners and friends have demonstrated their commitment to secure the future of the parish. But much more work needs to be done! The Archdiocesan Parish Endowment Fund (PEF) grant to St. Patrick for Fiscal Year 2010--2011 has been reduced by 20% to $25,000.00. In Fiscal Year 2011--2012 it will be completely eliminated. Additionally, the parish needs to address long-standing building repairs and well as continuing the work of the St. Patrick Food Pantry. As all of us experience the current economic downturn personally, St. Patrick Parish is feeling effects as well. Despite the best efforts of our generous parishioners and friends, we are still struggling to meet our financial obligations. Any major building repair could deplete our funds to the point where operating costs could not be met. The Stewardship Commission has successfully launched a multi-faceted plan to help generate additional income essential to our future. The coming months will be pivotal to the future of St. Patrick's and will require participation and sacrifice from all of us. We are always looking for new members for our Stewardship Commission. If you are unable to join but have ideas for fundraising, please forward them to us or feel free to attend our meetings. Contact the parish office for more information. We need continually to increase the number of registered parishioners and we are growing, slowly. At our recent Patronal Feastday, Fr. Pat Casey, pastor of our bridging partner parish St. Thomas a Becket, Canton, challenged our friends and benefactors not only to help with financial contributions but to consider joining St. Patrick's parishioners at Mass more often--even to committing to celebrating with us once a month. You might want to consider that as well. You won't be disappointed and you will be warmly welcomed to our community. Donations/Volunteer Service/Becoming a Parishioner
